Here’s another essential selection of reworks from London’s Jazz N Palms crew, a collective of dusty-fingered diggers and good groove enthusiasts best known for the (pre-pandemic) residency at Ronnie Scott’s. They hit the ground running with ‘Luz Del Sol’, a tidy revision of a gorgeously sunny, vibraphone-sporting chunk or orchestrated smoothness, before going all Balearic on the similarly summery ‘Cold Drink’ (think Pat Metheny style jazz-fusion, and you’re close). Over on the flip, ‘I Won’t Be Long’ is a fantastic extension of a previously oh-too-short, disco era jazz-funk gem, while ‘Fenix’ is a deeper, more spiritual jazz excursion that boasts a soft-touch groove and some spellbinding woodwind solos.
